Project Description
Cady Way Trail Bridge
Cady Way is a rails-to-trails project with 685 feet of bridge structure. Its basket-handle arch was fabricated in three sections to facilitate shipping and then erected on site with bolted flange connections. The arches are connected by 12 individual 20” O.D. by .500 wt struts using bolted flanged connections. The steel arch has 14 circular segments, each with a different radius. The center segment is the tightest and the end segment is the flattest. Because each segment was precisely bent to the correct radii, the field erection was completed without difficulties. The arch width is 29 ft. at the base and 11 ft. at the top.
